Weymouth's Charter is about to be reviewed by a committee chosen by the mayor and council president. I'm not sure where they are in the selection process, but if you are interested in serving on the committee, then you should let them know.
Even if you are not interested in serving on the recommending committee, what issues would you like to see examined by the committee. What areas of the charter do you like and want to see left alone? What don't you like, and why?
In about a year, I expect the council will take up the committee's recommendations and decide what to do with them. Under Weymouth's Charter, this review takes place every ten years. Let me know your thoughts as I suspect the debate will begin to pick up once the committee is chosen, announced, and begins meeting.

Okay, so you had your first meeting and you haven't posted since May. How about a report or something? Let's hear your thoughts. What would be really interesting, for an initial posting, is how you feel about the other committee members appointed and if you feel the review will be productive and objective. Try not to be too much of a politician, after all this is a blog and blog's are about one's honest opinion.
Thank you Stan for your comment. A first of many I hope.
In general, I respect the people who were chosen for the committee and am grateful for their time and voluntary service to our town. While that may read like a political response, it's true.
In starting this blog, my hope was to review the ideas, as well as the fine print, in the Charter. I beleive these are some of core things that define how our local government works. I realize this may not be the sexy stuff of the blog world, but I hope it reaches the necessary stuff of governing.
Time will tell. People aside, what ideas or language would you like changed, or kept, in the Charter?
